I started photography in Singapore in 1968. I was in the Royal Air Force at the time and photographic equipment was less expensive at the time. I bought a 35mm SLR Pentax Spotmatic and a medium format Mamiya C220.
During my three year stay in Singapore I learned to develop and print black and white film. I started colour developing prints and transparencies when I returned to the UK. These skills have stayed with me and I still use film cameras and develop my own film. My main interest has always been "People Photography", either taken candidly or with their permission.
Fift years after Singapore I am shooting with digital cameras, I use a full frame D750, micro four-thirds Olympus and also Leica cameras.
In 2014 I decided to become a student again and started a part time degree course in Photographic Practices at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I still specialise in street photography, but during the course, other project work has been undertaken. This degree is now completed and I graduated in the middle of the Corona pandemic in 2020.
